This is the beautifully Gothic looking Gympie Cemetery, opened in Dec 1869 when the flood prone town was subject to diseases such as diptheria. The ground was too low and hard so it was moved to its current spot where 60 acres was granted. James Nash, the first person to discover gold in Gympie is buried here as well as the pioneer families who started the town. You can even take part in the Full Moon Cemetery Crawl to learn all about them - something I keep meaning to do.
