Bathed In Sunshine - Church on Sunday #1
I thought that for a photo upload taken on a Sunday that I would try and concentrate on churches within a twenty mile radius of where we live and as we drove around, we spotted this church that is accessed via a small country "no though lane" with no obvious place to park, but found a spot just at the end of the lane.
As we walked back down the hill, there was a warning notice not to park in the lane right by the church as tractors were often going back and forth, and a parked car could sustain damage without the tractor driver realising it.
The church of St. Lawrence dates from the 12th century, with rebuilding and additions in the 13th and 14th centuries. The original spire was badly damaged by lightning in 1750 so was dismantled, but the tower was restored in 1927.The whole church was extensively restored in 1867 and re-opened in July of that year.
I felt that the Golden Hour was a wonderful time to take the photo with the sun catching the tower and highlighting parts of the scene.
