Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Monday following Dr Kings birthday is when we have a national holiday to honor him . His actual birthday is January 15th
The best way to honor him would be for Congress to pass the Voting Rights Bill!!! It’s shameful that Congress had yet to get this done .
Here are a few lesser known quotes from his speeches:
“This country has socialism for the rich, rugged individualism for the poor”
“For the good of America, it is necessary to refute the idea that the dominant ideology in our country even today is freedom and equality even while racism is just an occasional departure from the norm on the part of few bigoted extremists “
And lastly , he put it very simply when he said on the last night of his life in Memphis was “all we say to America is, ‘Be true to what you said on paper’l
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”
