Blue Monday
The third Monday in January is sometimes described as Blue Monday, a day when we are most vulnerable to gloom or depression. I believe it’s supposed to be a combination of cold, dark, grey, plus the arrival of credit card bills for Christmas spending, and the realisation that you’ve got into debt. I think it might be an advertising trope for holiday companies - a day on which we dream of a holiday in warm sunshine. I feel fortunate that I’m not in debt - as I don’t spend much at Christmas, or really celebrate in a big way. But also, I feel the light is already returning to a significant and noticeable extent in the mornings and evenings - which is very good for the spirits.
I walked past this front window in a house near home and thought how fun, cheerful and creative it is. Someone has made a lovely Duplo model specifically for this space. I think it’s fabulous:-)
