Blue/Brew Monday

The third Monday in January is often deemed to be a low point. Lack of light. Lack of post Christmas spending funds. Imminent pesky credit card payments and HM Tax demands due by the end of the month. Hence Blue Monday!

There is a strong suggestion that the original Blue Monday was a marketing ruse to encourage early booking of blue sky/blue sea sunshine summer holidays!

Blue Monday was borrowed by Samaritans to become Brew Monday. The Charity in partnership with train operating companies gives out branded teabags at railway stations across the country today.

I was part of the team at Cheltenham Spa station today. The sun shone. The sky was blue. Everyone who accepted the teabags were very appreciative.

The train in my Blip, leaving Cheltenham, was heading to Glasgow Central via Edinburgh. It would pass through Joppa some six hours later. It reminded me of my time spent at Waverley leading Brew Monday events there.
