Close to home
Not our present home, but our first home in Benbecula after we were married and even closer to where Cathleen was brought up in North Uist.
I have seen several of these photographs over the years, but did not know about their originator until I spotted this book in the excellent independent Dunoon bookshop, Bookpoint, last week.
Michael Cope has done a service to the history of Hebridean photography by telling Archie Chisholm's story and bringing to a wider public , with much important ancillary detail a good selection of his work.
He has also, perhaps unwittingly, also highlighted one of the fascinating issues in that history - the fact that so many people have been taking photographs for well over a century now that there are new treasure troves to be discovered all the time.
