Fashion Statement

We had an outing today! Had to return a package over the hill in Silicon Valley, that hotbed of hipness and cool and whatever the words are for these things nowadays.  We found a place for lunch that served all sorts of dumplings; these are the dessert buns, filled with different custards. The food was excellent, and the extra fun for me was watching the hipsters go by. Jeans, jeans and more jeans, and the more distressed the better. Sneakers, although maybe you call them running shoes--all colors, sometimes on the same shoe. Uggs, new enough to have been Christmas presents. Dogs, lots of dogs, some of them wearing puffy vests or tutus of their own. It was an upscale mall, and I had expected a little more elegance, not to mention variety, but I had great fun watching all this. It didn't occur to me to try and get it in a photo til we had eaten almost all the food.

Most folks wore their masks as they strolled around, and we felt safe eating outdoors in the pleasant weather (and under the heater...). It was terrific to have an outing. I think we were maybe 30 miles from home, the farthest we've been in ages.
