The Snow Game

No sunshine to warm
us and bring up the colours.
It is a grey day.

I had a marvelous sleep-in this morning. I woke up at a quarter to ten quite surprised to be getting up so late. My first shot today was from my deck. I think that's all we're going to get for sunbeams. The fog was rising up out of the valleys and the feeble sun peeked through layers of cloud. It was 0 C.

I grabbed a drive-thru breakfast and took it to McArthur Island. I parked on the north side near the foot bridge to enjoy my coffee. The city had a sander-plow (plow-sander?) working on the walkways. It seemed an odd time on a Sunday morning to have this equipment running. It was tossing out sand behind it. There were many people walking on this mild morning. There were couples with strollers, elderly with their walking sticks.....all had to move off to the roadway over icy mounds to make way for this fellow who smiled and waved as he passed. We've had the same weather for days....Seriously, this could have waited.

I parked on the south end of the park. I was surprised to see so many vehicles there in the same corner. The lot was very icy and really had not been cleared through the snowy days. Grass has started to appear in bare places. I was hoping to find some deer in and around the willow trees in that area. To my surprise, there seemed to be a number of disc golf players in action. Somehow, tromping through the receding snow didn't seem to be a problem to them. I noticed that they were not a particularly young crowd. I wasn't convinced they were really dressed for it. Some were wearing running shoes. Oh, well.....

I got a shot across the playing fields of my mountains and one across the Thompson River to downtown. Then, I was on my way home.

I'm having some problems with my laptop this morning. I may soon be shopping for a replacement.

I am cooking dinner for my daughter today. That will keep me busy.

The forecast is for a mainly cloudy day with a high of 3 C and a chance of showers overnight.
