Casentino outback
We went to walk down the newly discovered road to Villa again. A stunning day of warm high pressure sun with inverted temeperatures so it was warmer at 1000m than in the village at 400m.
You can just see a house in this photo - or group of houses - and what looks like a barn or seccatoio (drying house) below. These latter were for drying the chestnuts prior to taking them to a mill to have them ground into flour for a winter staple of chestnut polenta. Only this looks to be an oak forest.
I find these isolated houses very beguiling in the sunshine.
