Professor Mary-Louise McClaws, a world leading epidemiologist and WHO advisor with a massive intellect, who is held in the highest possible regard across Australia because of her calm and measured and fearless advice about the pandemic, has announced that she has just been diagnosed with a brain tumour. This is devastating news. This woman really matters. We all need her.

If this shocking news doesn't wipe off the front page the nonsense about a silly, dim tennis player I will despair of Australia.
