Hiking in Millcreek Canyon
Wednesday December 29
It was an early start this morning, as our flight was at 8.20 am, but we had a good drive down to the airport, and check-in and security went quite smoothly, giving us time to get a breakfast bagel and a coffee for breakfast. We had a good flight, and with the two hours time difference, arrived in Salt Lake around 10.40, though it took quite a while for the luggage to come through. Jen was there to meet us, and she drove us over to our Airbnb. Usually, when it’s just the two of us we stay with them in their small rented house, and they let us have their bedroom, and they sleep on an air mattress, but when we originally made our plans, Laura was supposed to be coming with us, so we booked an Airbnb fairly close by. However, Laura had to back out since she had to get up to Wisconsin for her new job, but we decided to keep our reservation, so that we would all have more space. Our accommodation was a modern studio apartment above a private garage. The lady owner was very nice and welcoming, and the apartment is fine for our needs. We then went on to Jen and Jason’s home and had some coffee and later a bit of lunch before going hiking in the snow at Millcreek canyon. They have had several falls of snow already this winter, even down in the valley, and of course more when you climb up the canyons into the mountains. The path was fairly well trodden down, so today we were just using our hiking boots with spikes for better traction. It’s just so beautiful being back in the mountains again!
