Local nurse has just just swabbed us all. Both my parents who are senior citizens and B tested positive for COVID. They (Pa and Ma) now need to isolate for 21 days. B is vaccinated and was told to isolate for 10 days. Thor and I tested negative but still need to quarantine for 7 days.

T is panic researching information about the virus and vaccines from YouTube. Am panic cleaning but still calm as I remember lessons from Ryan Holiday's Lives of the Stoics:  As you kiss your son good night, says Epictetus, whisper to yourself, "He may be dead in the morning."  He wished to remind himself that his precious son was not his possession, nor were his friends or his students or his health. The fate of these things remained for the most part, outside his control. Cherish them while we have them, but accept that they belong to us only in trust, that they can depart at any moment. Because they can. And so can we.
