Peace Pole.

Peace Poles are an internationally recognised symbol for peace. Each monument displays the Message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in the language of the country where it has been placed, and usually 3 to 13 additional translations; this one has English, Gaelic, Polish and Arabian script. Poles can be very grand, or simple like this one, which was made in Scotland. The idea of peace poles was first thought up by Masahisa Goi in 1955 in Japan. There are now over 200,000 Peace Poles in 200 countries across the globe.

The Message has capacity to bring people of various cultures, faith traditions and political ideals together as “one united global heart and mind.” Folks gathered to reflect and share their views on climate change at this Peace Pole in late October last year; many were pilgrims on their to the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow in November 2021.

Our younger son came for dinner this evening. Stir fry and news - good banter.

More toxic bad taste revelations re Downing Street Parties came to light throughout the day. Shameful.

Covid19 - various metrics continue to be evaluated. There are emerging positive signs of improvement in terms of cases of infection. Sadly though Scotland passed another grim milestone - 10,000 have died within 28 days of testing positive. There are still immediate pressures on health and social care etc now.
