A Dying Rose

I bought some roses on Sunday and they were sadly dying by Thursday, this is the best of those left. A day of various jobs including a full backup of the pc from scratch - I’ve only once found backup software I liked and that company went bust! I also watched The Father with Olivia Colman and Anthony Hopkins - beautifully acted and a challenging watch as about dementia, but definitely recommended.

Day 669 / Day 36 of Plan B (for my record only)
No. 10 has apologised to The Queen over 2 parties held in Downing St. on the eve of Prince Philip’s Funeral when the country was in official mourning and the flag was flying at half mast on the building. Let alone the parties being in breach of Covid regulations. Per The Telegraph they lasted beyond midnight, involved dancing and alcohol and both ended in the garden joined together. Boris wasn’t there this time. In my view Boris has bought the office of Prime Minister into disrepute and should resign immediately, then when the official enquiry by Sue Gray into the (13?) parties reports, many other key heads should roll and multiple fines should be given out. The role of the Met police officers at Downing St should also be looked into as a ‘blind eye’ must have been turned. The latest is that the head of the taskforce leading the Govt’s Covid response has admitted to having another office leaving bash when indoor socialising was banned - you couldn’t make it up, disgraceful behaviour. Australia’s immigration minister has revoked Djokovic’s visa again on health and good order grounds - quite right too. Unfortunately he’s challenging it in Court again, but is to be detained from 8am. Wales is relaxing their stricter restrictions over sporting events in phases up to 21st Jan as the peak of this wave is thought to have passed. Nightclubs will re-open on 28th Jan. UK researchers says there’s a one third reduction in the risk of going into hospital with Omicron compared to Delta. This increased to a two-thirds reduction in the risk of severe outcomes including formal hospital admission or death. England’s R rate is now estimated at 1.2 to 1.5, with a lower daily growth rate of 1% to 5%.
