Rhododendron

When I moved here, 35 years ago, the garden was a field.  Inspired by a visit to Ness Gardens in the spring, I planted lots of Rhododendrons and was very pleased with the results. I had big bold colour from December until June. But, as I spent time in the garden, I realised that they  did very little for  wildlife. If I was designing the garden now, I might plant the odd rhododendron, but I'd go for much more diversity.
Some of mine have suffered from seepage from a neighbour's  pile of bricks (they really don't like lime) so  I might have to replace them this summer. This one might be having its last Hoorah.
