The day after the Lord Mayor's show

There was a bit of a comedown today after the birthday of yesterday, not just for Ottawacker Jr., but for all of us. As if the holiday season had come crashing unceremoniously to an end.

Also not helped by the confirmation of a return to school next Monday. There is quite a bit of anger about this - not least because doctors are coming out and saying the province's guidelines are ridiculous and will cause chaos. (Among these was the stunning news that parents will only be told of cases of Covid in schools once 30% of the school is absent. I thought I had misunderstood at first, but no, that is the new rule.)

All feels a bit like rearranging the deck chairs and having a last brandy before the ship goes down.

At least I managed to give the squirrel a few seeds to brighten his day. No point in us all being miserable.
