The original

This is the original Maine flag. It was only around from 1901-1909 and then they adopted a more traditional flag which is really busy and has the state coat of arms on it etc....
There is somewhat of a movement to try to have the state return to this  beautiful, simple flag, which I would wholeheartedly agree with. Blue for the North Star and the green pine tree as Maine is known as the Pine Tree State. Simple.
I bought this for Dan for Christmas from the Maine Flag Company that does a good business getting these out to people. Now we just have to figure out if we are going to get a flag pole sometime or just keep it in the house. I'd love to fly it periodically.
