Limerick jaunt: day 2

This was a big day - we were out and on the road shortly after 9am on a glorious crisp day. A huge variety of wells and some lovely people encountered. St Molua's well was remote and soporific in a field but the most thrilling was the equally remote but unvisited St Gobnait's well, now a watercress-filled damp area under a ton of brambles. We rocked up at Billy's farm (masked), he knew of the well but said no one had visited for millennia but he offered to take us. Several fields and a lot of chat later, there it was. I was delighted.
The main pic is from our final excursion of the day as the sun was almost setting. An aerobic walk up a steep hill to Ardpatrick - the site a 5th century  monastery supposed to have been founded by St Patrick. Not much remained but the surrounding graveyard was still used (how on earth did they get the coffins up there) and there was the stump of an round tower. The well had been filled in but we gasped at the huge views out in every direction.
Finola walked the long way down backwards as her feet were hurting by this time.

Day 3
I'm ready for bath and bed! It might be a catch up tomorrow.
