Soap Box Derby

Today we thought Diane was getting here from Christchurch, we knew there was something happening on the 6th and we were convinced this was it, anyway i quick check of the emails this morning and we realised it was our 23rd wedding anniversary (thanks Mum) Diane arrives tomorrow morning.
We started the morning with a cycle round Gulf Harbour, i should really miss the part about the big steep hill and the lamppost having to hold me up till the shaking had subsided :-)
Then we went to Whangaparoa and came across this huge soapbox derby. Great fun and every club and school seemed to be represented, this photo shows just how steep the hill is and the karts get up amazing speeds. We came back and took Kea for a swim in the sea again, this time we bought her a new floating toy that we can throw while we are out in the water.
We topped the day off with an anniversary meal at Abbruzo, the fantastic Italian restaurant on the peninsula.
