Snowdrops

The first snowdrops are just emerging through the leaf litter in Philorth Woods. These were growing in the same sun-favoured spot as the earliest clump we found in 2021 on January 11th.

The curved spears of wild garlic and mottled leaves of Lesser Celandine are also starting to appear in the wood. Sadly several trees have been brought down in recent gales - but the woodpeckers still found somewhere to drum.
