The Green Man, sometimes Green Woman, is a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of new growth every spring. The Green Man is most commonly made of or surrounded by leaves. The Green Man has many variations, branches may sprout from the mouth and shoots may bear flowers or fruit. And they are often found in carvings on churches. This one is in the Spa Gardens in Ripon.
