Somebody Tell This Guy I'm Not A Snow Goose !
Our local news excitedly reported a record number of snow geese (thousands) resting in their migration just a few hours from where we live. Mrs. drewox and I set out on a leisurely drive east along the St. Lawrence to see (and hopefully photograph) them. When we reached the town where they were reported in the largest numbers (tens of thousands) we stopped in a cafe for refreshments and directions. "They're just up the road in the fields by the cheese factory, I've never seen so many (untold thousands) - you can't miss them!" Actually we could. Actually we did. In spite of a wide ranging search up and down rural roads not a single Snow Goose showed itself!
The temperature had finally risen and we had very high winds so I think they took those conditions as the opportunity to continue their journey to the arctic - with not so much as a 'by your leave' or 'goodbye'.
Never mind - nice day, nice drive, nice gull :-)
