Tuesday Travels

Today we took the winding road to French Pass.  Parts of the road are metal and very narrow but we were rewarded with views like this.  This is looking towards D'Urville  Island.  French Pass is a narrow and treacherous stretch of water that separates D'Urville Island from the mainland.  The first European to navigate it was French Admiral Jules d'Urville on his second voyage to New Zealand in January 1827.  Further along from the pass is a lovely bay with a camping ground beside the beach.  It is a great place for boating, fishing, swimming and kayaking.  We ate a picnic lunch and then the other two has a swim.  The water was too chilly for me.  A great day exploring a new piece of country.
The extras is the only shop which is Covid free and Wifi free, and what do you do when your cow shed is right beside the road?  You paint a mural on it of course.
