Snow came

Snow came in the night as forecast. The front spinning off the deep Atlantic low west of Iceland swept over the Alps and crashed into the air down from the Arctic to whip up a Gulf of Genoa Mediterranean low that spawned a 15cm fall on our patch of the Apennines.

The ploughs have been grinding along all the roads, three working the Consuma Pass. Schools , which were to open tomorrow amidst growing Covid controversy, are closed for Monday on the promise of more snow.

We took a walk and creaked our way up hill and through the woods. Thick overcast and fog rising out of the valley. I ‘dug out’ the cars more for the work than necessity and put some salt on the track which didn’t get ploughed.
