A book and a scarf

A book with a beautiful cover and a knitted scarf.
How are they linked?

I have just enjoyed the book, which is a textile artist describing her approach to using cloth and stitches in her work. I found it fascinating and the book has the most wonderful cover - if it seems blurred in the photo, that’s because it is - it is made of paper designed to look and feel like fabric . . . and it does.

The scarf is one I have just finished knitting for my daughter - she requested black, so I hope this is what she had in mind. I actually found out how to make a fringe, I don’t think I’ve ever done that before.

Hannah Lamb lives and works near and in Bradford, which was of course once a woven wool cloth centre and she uses many of the traditions of that industry in her work.

The wool I used for the scarf is a pure wool spun in Keighley, near Bradford, at one of the few remaining hand knitting spinners using British wool in the country. It was a joy to knit with.
