Sun, seaweed and a sea tractor
First proper day of our jolly bobs in south Devon and its been a sun and fun filled one for it, even if a tad chilly still.
The days events started with a search and rescue of grandad, which concluded at 11am in time for a coastal path walk from Challaborough Bay to Bigbury-on-Sea with its stunning scenery.
After a quick and obligatory chips in a bag by the sea munch, the highlight perhaps of the whole holiday- a trip on the sea tractor across to Burgh Island to admire the famous art deco hotel and the views. Three such 'Mad Max' creations have served the island since 1930, the one we rode in was commissioned in 1969 - fabulous!
The afternoon was complete with an idling stroll back to our temporary home via a cliff top cafe where a cream tea and scones were inhaled. En route the boy and I stopped to watch the surfers from a cliff top vantage and had lovely chats about whether I dream about surfing like he does about football (I do) and how he'd love to be a dog so I could throw things for him to catch!
After tea it was back on the beach where the boy went wild splashing about and wanging big clumps of seaweed around. I've taken loads of really cool photos throughout the day but this one sums up the end of a brilliant day nicely.
