Botanical Garden

I. and I spent an enjoyable day with Mom, stepdad Dave and Kristie. I did the customary early morning walk to Starbucks this morning while still accustomed to east coast time. There's a whole hour less of daylight here in the northwest, and the streets were very dark and quiet at 6-something. Had to show proof of vaccination and booster to be able to sit inside Sbucks - a strikingly different approach from Tennessee, where we visited at Christmas and where most folks didn't bother wearing masks in stores. 

Really enjoyed a walk through the Bellevue Botanical Garden this afternoon. Here's a garden house with I. and her Aunt Kristie goofing off in the background. If anyone (Kate? :-)) has an idea of what this intriguing black grass in the foreground is, I'd be interested to know. The new growth at the centers was bright green.
