Twite
This probably isn't the best photo i took today but as i'm interested in adding birds to the Blip Big Year list (see http://www.blipfoto.com/discuss/24/4915 i have used this as my blip for today as it doesn't seem to be on the list there.
This wee bird is a Twite (Carduelis flavirostris) a small finch that is quite common here in the Uists. It feeds mainly on seeds and has a lovely twittering call which always cheers me up :-) From autumn onwards we have reasonable size flocks around. At this time the flocks usually disperse for the breeding season.
The small flock that this bird was with was feeding around the area on the machair where the cattle are fed
