Chasing the light

I've hardly been at my office today. Had an appointment in the morning first in Appingedam, and then Peter texted me that he'd like to go out for photography in the afternoon/sunset. The weather was stormy and the skies and light were changing rapidly over and over again. Rain, hail, sun, it all changed quickly.
I decided to come along. No more work today.

We left at 14.00 and headed for the vast empty landscapes of the nearby rural polders. Here the sky would be our main subject.
And that worked out quite well. We first drove all the way to Nieuwe Statenzijl, and stopped every now and then on our way back. Once there (on the German border) we saw that the tide was really high. I'd never seen it that high before here. (see the extra photo) It turned out to be spring tide in combination with fierce wind from the north. That pushed the waterlevel up quite a lot.

Just as we'd hoped for the light came and went and came and went. It was great. We really were chasing the light. A small foodtruck with coffee-to-go was the finishing touch. We had a great afternoon.
