On our walk through the fields from Dirleton to Yellowcraigs we passed a few roe deer grazing near the track and beside the adjacent wood saw treecreepers and brightly coloured goldfinches feeding on old thistle heads while a buzzard swooped down on unsuspecting prey.  There were dozens of people walking briskly on the beach glad to be out enjoying the sunshine despite the strong cold wind but recent high tides and storms were causing the high sand dunes to collapse further and destroying the sand martin burrows.  Out to sea a couple of large ships passed, including one laden with oil on its way to Rotterdam and far to the east a crane was visible helping to construct the huge new offshore windfarm. Perhaps someone can identify the three large yellow structures in the extra.
