Local Hero?
Sun and clear skies today, icy underfoot and the frost never melted in the shade. I'm still putting Christmas away - both the decorations and the remaining mince pies, Christmas cake, etc. But I have manage 3 alcohol-free days. I'm aiming to keep my sparkly lit-up pink gin for my birthday (6 weeks away) - we'll see ...
We had a short drive and an even shorter walk up to the Wallace Statue at Bemersyde. I'm not sure why it was erected there. Not much is known about him, really, other than from Blind Harry's poem, and Braveheart. I don't think he had any connection to the Borders. But it's rather a good site for a massive statue. looking over the Tweed towards the Eildons.
