Pudding lane
No, not how we feel after Christmas (well, maybe a little), but starting school before they are back...
Topic this term is the Great Fire of London, although I'm not sure how their teacher is going to string it out until half-term. They aren't back to school until Thursday, so we have a couple of 'spare' days to fill. I took them to London to see the Monument, Pudding Lane and the small cobbled streets around the City. So they've kind of had their Topic lessons already! Happy children. We also went into the oldest Church in London, which is right by the Tower of London and very beautiful. Lunch by the Tower of London, explaining about Gun Salutes fired from the Tower - turns out that is quite hard to explain to a 5 & 6 year old - so we retreated to a cafe for a very delicious hot chocolate.
Today I'm grateful for:
The enjoyment of trains for small children
The kindness of strangers who hold back, keep out of your way and tell you not to rush as they know what it's like herding children around London transport
Happy, tired children
