Uskmouth Nature Reserve

We nipped over the Severn this afternoon for a wander in the RSPB reserve at Nash, next door to Uskmouth Power Station. 

I spent many years in the power station and substations connected to it, and worked on the control, protection and telephony networks connecting the old coal stations and the new gas stations to the National Grid. 

Janet was a little surprised I knew the way to the reserve until she saw the plethora of power towers, some of which still carry CEGB warning signs!

There was almost nothing going on, and one of the twitchers on site expounded at length how the reserve down the road at Goldcliff was much nicer. However, this marsh harrier flew over the reed beds back and forth at a distance.

I expect I need a longer lens for here... hmm...
