The Bourne Wood

This morning I took a walk to the Bourne Wood, a favourite Surrey filming location. Today, it was just me and the dog walkers but it is not unusual to find the place packed with enormous location trailers, lighting rigs and, of course, huge movie cameras, sometimes sat atop cherry pickers. The area is owned by the Forestry Commission and there is a wide tarmac road to the middle where there is a large clearing making it a perfect place to set up camp. The film folk are surprisingly tolerant of gawpers as long as you don't get in the way.The Wood famously featured in Gladiator , a couple of the Harry Potter films and recently was used for Netflix's The Witcher (no I have never seen it either).
