Clean up!

OO, just like many other kids, is great at making messes and making excuses to not clean up. Her favourite one is "but I'm so tired!", followed by "there's so many things I can't do it!". Of course it's her parents who end up doing the real clean-up.

A couple days ago I pulled out my Dyson for some heavy-duty vacuuming. I probably vacuumed away some of her loose pieces of playing cards, stickers and paper. OO was devastated that some of her toys were gone, and she's developed a new respect (or fear, rather) for the Dyson.

So tonight when I pulled out the Dyson again, she immediately sprang from the floor and put away all her toys at record speed. She'd panic when my Dyson traveled to a spot where she hasn't yet cleaned up, and would beg me to give her some time before I let Dyson suck up all her toys. She got so upset that she started to cry...

I feel bad but secretly I was laughing because this has been the best way to get her to thoroughly clean up!

Picture was taken after she cleaned her whole bedroom and insisted on organizing her stuffed animals. I have to document this moment of triumph, as I know this trick isn't going to work for much longer...
