The War Begins

It's difficult to decide where the buildings begin and HMS Belfast ends in this shot. It was a day of wartime rememberance. Once again the look of delight on my boy's face caught me off guard. He becomes so animated that I fear I will yet see him in one of those too big uniforms of yesterday.

Today we enjoyed the Queen's very own Crown Jewels, Tower Bridge and HMS Belfast. Standing in the gun room of Belfast, a small affair - about 12ft x 8ft, I listened to the audio of how 27 men would work here firing as many as 8 rounds each per minute from the 3 guns. How smoke, sweat and fear would fill the room, and I found tears falling from my face.

Later the tears fell again as I laughed uncontrollably at Rufus Hound in One Man Two Governors at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket.
