T. Tiger Helps Wrangle the Blips

As it is approaching 500 GB in size, I am cleaning up my photo library in preparation for moving it off the computer and onto one of those adorable, tiny Sandisk drives. Then I'll start a new photo library on the computer. So I've been putting keywords to everything and trying to tidy it up. Part of that process also includes identifying and tagging all of the Blips!

Now, I normally put keywords with most of my Blips as I post them, but in November of 2020, I suffered a catastrophic failure of my big photo library. I was able to recover most of the masters, and I reconstructed photo sets from earlier in 2020. I may not be able to fix what is broken with the original library but I can certainly resolve to do better next time! The library I will move off the computer on New Year's Day (wish me luck!) will contain just the years 2020 and 2021.

So T. Tiger and I went through and tagged all the missing Blips; most of the missing ones were from before the catastrophic library crash, so that was most of 2020 up to mid-November. The process involved getting into my Blipfoto pages and looking at the photos posted for each, then finding each one in my photo library and tagging it with a keyword. You guessed it: Blipfoto!

We have now accomplished that task, and I am in the middle of identifying photos from the Blipfoto pics for two new books, one for 2020 and another for 2021. I have usually given my books titles and themes, but these may just be "year in review" sorts of things.

So much happened, so much changed, for me, in just that little time! The pandemic came and the whole world went upside-down. I quit a job I loved, I lost a beloved cat, a bunch of people I love died. You know, the usual. That's life, isn't it?

Reviewing all of the photos from 2020 and 2021 was a real trip through time, and I think it was an interesting task to do around the new year, as that is typically a time for reflection. I look back now and I see the trends. It's like watching your life flash by, but in slow motion. Capturing your life, one day at a time!

The review of all those memories made me think of that Jimmy Buffett song about the guy who took off for a weekend last month, just to try and recall the whole year. So here it is as my theme song: Jimmy Buffett, with Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude.
