Marshall Fire
We haven't had any significant moisture in months, so everything is tinder dry. Today the wind was blowing up to 100 mph near the foothills. Power lines were blown down and started several fires in Boulder County (the county I live in). Within an hour, flames had spread to homes and businesses and two cities were completely evacuated. Now, about 10 hours later, over 600 homes have been lost and the fire is still raging. The only good news is that the wind has calmed down and the firefighters are finally able to fight the fire. This is about 15 miles southwest of us and we are in no danger (except for the possibility of the same thing happening here) because it's moving away from us. It is already the most destructive fire in state history. So sad!
My blip today is an abstracted image of the fire. Many thanks to Ingeborg for hosting Abstract Thursdays!
I am grateful that the "wind event" is over now and snow is in the forecast for tomorrow. I hope it will be enough to help get control of the fire!
