Distillery
The last full day of our summer holiday. We had no plans apart from whisky and distilleries. TT has been waiting for two weeks for this. Our first stop was Glenmorangie. We weren’t able to look around much apart from in the shop due to covid restrictions. Purchases were made, then we followed the burn down to the coast and read about a project to re-introduce oysters to the Dornoch Firth.
Our next stop was Strathpeffer – where the rain was torrential. This restricted any thoughts of wandering and focused our minds on a late lunch at the old station. It was lovely to sit outside on the old platform while the rain continued to be torrential. The rain eased and we had thoughts of a wander, but it was still wet, so we jumped back in the car and the next stop was the Glen Ord Distillery. And yes, purchases were made there too.
On leaving the distillery we thought it was looking a bit brighter so headed to Rogie Falls, where we did manage a walk without getting wet, and even spotted some salmon jumping, though not as impressive as at the Falls of Shin earlier in the week. We then headed back home taking an old and more interesting road.
It was then an evening of eating leftovers, tidying and packing. I fitted in one last evening beach walk.
