Lady Bantry's View
Either she was a game old bird or they hoicked her up in a sedan chair! Today we went out to Glengarriff before the rain came in. We did the big meadow walk then clambered up to Lady Bantry's view. It was mighty - a family from Dublin with four kids taking selfies (smallest having a wobbly); a young man from Sligo with two bouncy dogs and us. The information was exchanged as you can see. The woods here are dense, the ancient trees with mossy covered trunks like sponges and in the centre an enigmatic pond with purple stemmed trees casting odd reflections. But yes, more steps!
Last night's film - The Rescue, a documentary about the rescue of the Thai boys marooned in the cave. The heroism of the divers and the sheer bravery of the doctor who acted against all his better judgments was beyond belief. The boys too, so calm and smiling despite what they had endured. Very well made, severely intense even though you know the outcome. We all agreed caving was not for us.
And congrats to the Cailleach's Wild Wednesday challenge, a wild 6 years! You have to feel a bit hopeful looking at this view.
