Shandwick Bay
It was raining, so that meant a slow and quiet morning. The weather is such a contrast to what we’ve had the past ten days or so. Enforced chilling is always good. I read my book, while the boys watched the Olympics. We decided to make a picnic anyway – and go somewhere to have a picnic in the car – that’s what a real Scottish holiday is all about!!
Very late morning the rain seemed to have eased, so we took our chances and headed out with no clear destination. We ended up at the seaboard villages, parking up in Balintore. We had our picnic in the car! We then braved the elements and walked along Shandwick Bay beach. The weather improved and it turned out lovely! We walked as far as we could go, and then retraced our steps. A really lovely walk, and so unexpected given the weather this morning.
We explored a bit further and ended up at the Nigg fery, looking over to Cromarty where we were yesterday. It was so much brighter than yesterday! We took a different route home and then later TT and I had a peaceful beach walk. There was no sunset tonight.
Here are the boys at Shandwick Beach. The extra is the Cromarty Firth from the Nigg Ferry.
