Christmas Eve

Needs to be accompanied by the music that I have heard since 1953. it must have been on one of the first records my parents were able to buy after WW2. My parents got dressed in their best dress and suit, always the same, as far as I can remember. We had picked up our rooms and also wore our best clothes. Then we were allowed to go into the „Christmas room“, where this music played, the wax candles were burning and our gifts were on a little table for each one.
Today I could not find the tape that I have made from that record and I got all nervous- Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas for me without that music. When I finally found it and was able to play it, a wave of memories rushed through me. It is strange what music sometimes does for me.
Feeling grateful for a wonderful Christmas Eve in the German tradition with hubby who enjoyed it too.
