‘Twas the day before Christmas
When all through the house
A creature was stirring
And, yes, ‘twas a mouse!

No kidding. I found Kringle in the mousetrap this morning. #10. It’s been a couple of weeks since #9 but he was released in above freezing temps. It was 10F so needless to say we waited until late morning before relocating #10 to The Boat Landing. I found it stressful and inhumane. I fed him a couple of peanuts but he didn’t touch them. No doubt he was stressed too. Anyway, when the cage was opened he immediately scurried up the icy snowbank straight for the granite wall. #9 was not as smart. We left him stunned in place, not moving, not even as we drove away. Please, let this be the last one • We are almost ready for the festivities to begin! I’ll be making potato-leek soup next, and then we’ll pour some liquid cheer, before settling down to watch “Christmas in Connecticut” • Happy Christmas Eve to you all.
