Angel of the North
I stopped at this iconic landmark sculpture for my picnic en route to Scotland for Christmas. I pass it on all my journeys up the A1 - the main arterial route between London and Edinburgh for those of you from the wider world. It’s by Anthony Gormley and most impressive both artistically and in engineering terms. You can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_of_the_North
The cottage is well appointed and spacious - basically two converted into one so we have two of everything - including staircases- and countless back doors! The day was incredibly mizzly and dull but I still enjoyed coming over the moors after Newcastle.
