Red and green should never be seen.

My mother quoted this saying when she discovered that my primary school colours were just that. She could not say why but I reckon it refers to the running lights on ships (and aircraft now). If you can see both colours, that ship may be heading right for you!
The Kelpies this morning were nicely lit but we were the only people there to see them.
