Christmas baubles

Today was such a busy day - I had to go out and get groceries for the week (Christmas food will be got later in the week) and yet I was expecting many different people to come to the house for various reasons, so I could not leave until they had come.

I started the day off very early with a short run on the treadmill, my first run in over four weeks and my foot felt fine - I did not overdo it. Then I said goodbye to Inca, and Tommy, who is going to her house for a few days until Christmas. They first had to drop off the boys' car for a repair at the dealership as there is a problem with the brakes, and of course it is going to be a two day job waiting for parts and rather costly.

I was doing laundry and chores waiting for P the dog walker to come collect Xena, then a friend came to drop off gingerbread biscuits, and then I convinced Luke, who has come home but is working from home this week, to let the plumber in, so I could quickly get groceries before Xena came back from her walk. Gavin is off work this week and so he is on the golf course nearly every day this week which has gone down like a lead balloon with me, when I was counting on his help at home, especially today which was a bit crazy at home with people coming and going, dealing with the garage regarding the car and then the plumber. But it all worked okay and besides, Gavin now owes me many favours!! :)

I got back from the supermarket as P was waiting in the driveway to drop Xena off so I could take a very dirty Xena off him and give him his Christmas present - Luke was busy on a zoom call so thankfully I got back in time. The plumbers arrived later than expected, they did phone me to tell me, and thankfully that timing suited me better, and the boilers have now been serviced although they need to come back in the  new year with a part that needs replacing.

Trying to fit the groceries in the fridge is another story - there will be five adults in the house over the Christmas period, and everyone eats a different breakfast and a different lunch so I have to get all sorts of groceries to suit everyone's needs - and another fridge! Actually we have more than one fridge as we needed it over lockdown when all the boys were home for months, as two of them being powerlifters does mean many calories consumed.

I have a few more presents to wrap and then I think I am almost ready for Christmas! I did see that Waitrose were selling large real Christmas trees for £5 today, what a bargain! If anyone still needs a tree, you know where to go....
