Giving It The Green Light

Today's image was taken in my home village of Aylesford and is one of the street lanterns in the square which has been appropriated as a frame for some of the Christmas lights.
It was another cold, damp and very grey day and I must admit I've used a bit of saturation in photoshop to add a bit of colour - the green sky is a bit odd but I quite like the effect!

Today's shot was taken on the way to our local, The Chequers, we needed a restorative pint after doing the last big Christmas food shop.
We said hello to the landlord on the way in but he didn't seem his usual self. Like everyone in the hospitality industry has must be very worried about the consequences of the Omicron variant of the virus. Just when they were hoping for a bumper Christmas after last year customers are now cancelling bookings hand over fist.
Again I think the industry has been badly let down by Bozo and our useless government. They clearly gave the signal for Christmas to go ahead as normal despite infection rates being very high and Omicron being on the horizon but then later told people to be very careful how they socialise,  suggest that they take a lateral flow test before they go out to pubs, bars or restaurants and for all adults to get their booster vaccinations as immediately as possible. Hence the NHS website crashing, massive queues across the country to get the jab and serious supply problems with lateral flow tests.
The hospitality industry say they have been left in a halfway house where they are allowed to open but there has been a mass cancellation of bookings which has resulted them incurring costs that they will be unable to recover and yet there is no new support package in place from the government. They deserve so much better after all they have had to endure for the last two years.
