The Two Towers : Part Two

So, just a very short way down the road from yesterday's picture we have Edgbaston Pumping Station. You can see now why this one is harder to photograph - presumably this one represents Mordor as you're not allowed in. Irish Pete correctly pointed out yesterday that the tower is actually a chimney and was apparently constructed like this to make it more appealing in the local area. It was designed by John Henry Chamberlain and dates from around 1870 so is around 100 years newer than Perrott's Folly. Incidentally, John Chamberlain was also responsible for the 'old' Birmingham library that was demolished in 1974 to make way for the 'monstrous carbuncle' we have now.
