Subterranean*

The centre of Edinburgh is built on many levels in a way that would baffle most modern town planners and send them screaming for their set squares. Not just in the Royal Mile and Cockburn Street, but here as Calton Road goes under Waterloo Place to join up with Leith Street. I've fond memories of my young manhood playing out in the bar just up ahead (*homesick blues) - before the squiggly bridge was built.

I took the boys to the cinema today and sat through a pretty pedestrian rehash of the Jack and the Beanstalk story, but it's always nice to have a wander through Edinburgh. The sun was out today, the sky was blue and we had a spring in our step.
