Sunday: Barge Chilling Beach
It was a beautiful sunny day so we headed down to English Bay to see the latest addition to Vancouver’s landmarks, Barney, the Wayward Barge. Barney was recently washed up in the storms we had and has been sitting on the beach ever since. Pending his departure, the Parks Board has renamed the beach. I suspect we’ll miss Barney when he’s gone.
Met up with H&J tonight for the latest meal in the alphabet challenge. Tonight it was ‘W’, which stands for………..West Indian. We had a good meal at the ‘Calabash Bistro’ in Gastown. So far, we’ve delivered on every letter.
After we left the restaurant, K and I got into a conversation with a really nice young man, Olly, from Halifax. We’d noticed him while we were eating and we were a bit concerned about him. It’s a side of town that has issues with opioid addiction etc. We checked to see if he was ok and chatting with him, he came round a bit. We took him for a coffee and sandwich so hopefully he can keep warm for a bit. He was a really sweet guy and there are so many Ollys out there.
